FULL REPLACEMENT — HIGHER TICKET THAN REPAIR
Sidewalk Replacement Contractor Long Island
Heaving, settled slabs, deep cracks, freeze-thaw failure, or a town violation notice — replacement means full demo, base rebuild, and a fresh 4000 PSI pour. Nassau and Suffolk coverage, ROW permits included, ADA work where required.
If a contractor can patch it, patch it. If they can't, replace it — completely. Half-measures on a failing slab cost double inside 18 months.
When sidewalk replacement is required (not optional)
- Heaving above 1/4" — tripping hazard, ADA non-compliance, town violation risk.
- Settled slabs — water ponds on the surface, freeze-thaw will destroy the base.
- Deep cracks > 1/2" — the slab has failed structurally.
- Spalling — surface concrete flaking off, exposing aggregate and rebar.
- Town violation notice — patching won't satisfy compliance, replacement is required.
The replacement process
- Sawcut clean perimeter at existing joint lines.
- Demo failed slab, haul debris.
- Excavate to subgrade, compact, place new granular base.
- Form, pour 4000 PSI concrete, finish, joint, cure.
- Sweep, remove forms, restore landscape edge.
- Final inspection with town or county DPW.
