NEW INSTALL — DISTINCT FROM REPAIR
Sidewalk Installation Long Island
New sidewalk where none existed — new construction, HOA buildouts, commercial additions, ADA frontage compliance. Nassau and Suffolk coverage with full ROW permit handling and 4000 PSI mix specification.
Installation is not repair. New sidewalk work means subgrade preparation, granular base, formwork, expansion joints, and a fresh pour to local DPW specification — and almost always a Right-of-Way permit from whichever authority owns the frontage.
When you need new sidewalk installation
- New residential construction — fronts a public street, code requires sidewalk.
- HOA common-area buildouts — clubhouse walkways, pool decks, building approaches.
- Commercial additions — new retail pad, office expansion, restaurant patio with ADA frontage.
- Subdivision sidewalk — developer-required by town site plan approval.
- Municipal extension — town or village extending sidewalk into a previously unimproved block.
Our installation specification
4-inch thick 4000 PSI concrete, 4-inch granular base, expansion joints at 20 ft and isolation joints at every fixed obstruction, broom finish, sawcut control joints at 5-ft intervals, edged perimeter. Walk-on in 24 hours, full strength in 28 days.
Permits for new installation
New sidewalk in the public right-of-way triggers a town, village, or county ROW permit. New private walkway on your own lot usually doesn't — but if it crosses the property line or replaces a curb cut, it does. We pull the permit either way.
